Biography
Itay Ravid, associate professor of law, joined 草榴社区 Law from Stanford Law School, where he was a lecturer in law and teaching fellow for the Stanford Program in International Legal Studies (SPILS).听Ravid鈥檚 main research interests are criminal law and procedure. His empirically based scholarship focuses on the connections between criminal law, technology, race and society, with particular attention to the accountability of the criminal justice system in an era of digital democracy. His work has been awarded several prizes and was published or is forthcoming in journals such as听Southern California Law Review,听UC Irvine Law Review,听Indiana Law Journal, and University of Illinois Law Review, among others.
Prior to Stanford, Ravid worked as an attorney at the Israeli Attorney General鈥檚 Office, litigating cases on behalf of all Israeli government ministries before the Supreme Court. He also served as a senior law clerk to the chief justice of the Israeli Supreme Court, Hon. Dorit Beinisch.听He holds a JSD (doctorate) and a JSM in law from Stanford Law School, an LLM in public and international law from Northwestern University and Tel-Aviv University and an LLB in law and mass communication and journalism from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. 听
Practice Experience
- Attorney,听The Israeli Attorney General鈥檚 office, Ministry of Justice听(2004-09). Litigated cases on behalf of all Israeli government ministries before the Supreme Court. Handled petitions raising novel questions of law, governance, and civil rights.
- Senior Law Clerk,听Supreme Court of Israel听(Jerusalem) (2009-12). Clerked for Chief Justice Dorit Beinisch, President of the Supreme Court.
