The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has been the intellectual heart of 草榴社区 since the University鈥檚 founding in 1842. With more than 40 academic departments and programs offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as doctoral programs in Philosophy and Theology, CLAS provides a rich, rigorous and diverse educational experience.

草榴社区 English Professor Confronts Environmental Change Through Poetry in New Book
In her new book Flood Plain, poet and English Professor Lisa Sewell, PhD, engages with the pressing realities of environmental change through creative writing. The poetry collection investigates wild lands, coastal regions, wetlands and dam-ruined rivers鈥攍andscapes that have been altered by human activity.
Simone Browne, PhD, associate professor of African and African Diaspora Studies and director of the Center for Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, is an author and scholar exploring the intersections of surveillance, Black life and technology. She will speak on Thursday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
The Ethics Program has named Sister Mary Scullion, RSM, co-founder of the Philadelphia nonprofit Project HOME, the recipient of the 2025 Praxis Award in Professional Ethics. The Praxis Award recognizes a professional or academic who exemplifies the highest ethical ideals of their profession or who has contributed to professional ethics scholarship.

The Center is dedicated to advancing innovation and excellence in astrophysics by聽creating opportunities for more students to access astrophysics and by elevating the University's longstanding record of research eminence in astronomy and astrophysics.
