VSB Welcomes Eight New Faculty Members
草榴社区, Pa. (September 3, 2024) 鈥鈥疶he 草榴社区 School of Business (VSB) is pleased to welcome eight new faculty members.
鈥淰SB is proud of our world-class faculty and pleased to welcome these individuals to the team,鈥 said Wen Mao, PhD, the Helen and William O鈥橳oole Dean of VSB. 鈥淓ach of these leaders brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that prepare and inspire our students for their future business careers.鈥
The new faculty members are:
Amanda Acevedo
Acevedo joins VSB鈥檚 Accounting & Information Systems department as a visiting assistant instructor as she works toward completing her PhD in Accounting at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business. She is an active certified public accountant in Maryland and previously worked as a senior audit associate at KPMG. She earned her BBA in Accounting & Information Systems from Loyola University Maryland.
Brian Grant, PhD
Dr. Grant joins VSB as an assistant professor in the Accounting & Information Systems department. He earned his BS in Business Administration (Accounting) and his Master of Accountancy degrees from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and completed both his MBA and PhD in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Bloomington. His research focuses on international tax issues and policy. He previously worked as a manager at both KPMG and PwC and is a certified public accountant in New York.
Nitin Joglekar, PhD
Dr. Joglekar joins VSB from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University where he has taught undergraduate, graduate, executive and PhD courses since 1999. He joins VSB as the John F. Connelly Endowed Chair in Management in VSB鈥檚 Management & Operations department. He earned his Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India, and his PhD from MIT鈥檚 Sloan School of Management. A prolific researcher in operations, analytics, and management, Dr. Joglekar has extensive industry experience, including serving on the Global Futures Council for the World Economic Forum and as an expert panelist for the U.S. National Science Foundation.
Marina Cozac, PhD
Dr.聽Cozac joins VSB鈥檚 Marketing & Business Law department as an assistant professor. Dr.聽Cozac earned her BS in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her PhD in Marketing from Florida State University. Her research has covered topics including food consumption, preferences and perceptions; consumer health and well-being; and news consumption and misinformation.聽
Anthony Rice, PhD
Dr. Rice joins VSB鈥檚 Finance & Real Estate department as an assistant professor after serving on the faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong鈥檚 Business School for the past three years. He earned his BS in Finance & Accounting and his MS in Finance from Florida State University and earned his PhD in Finance from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dr. Rice鈥檚 research interests include corporate finance with a focus on political economy, behavioral finance and sustainable finance.
Germ谩n S谩nchez S谩nchez, PhD
Dr. S谩nchez joins VSB as a visiting assistant teaching professor in the Economics department. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on macroeconomics, housing and mortgage finance, and the role of intermediaries. He studied at Instituto Tecnol贸gico Aut贸nomo de M茅xico (ITAM) for both his undergraduate and master鈥檚 degrees in Economics. Before coming to the United States, Dr. S谩nchez worked as a research assistant at the Ministry of Economics in Mexico and the Central Bank of Mexico.聽
Thao Vuong, PhD
Dr Vuong joins VSB as a visiting assistant teaching professor in the Finance & Real Estate department. After earning a PhD in Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Vuong earned a second PhD in Finance from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis where he also served as a visiting assistant professor. He has taught investment theory, derivatives, fintech, stochastic foundations and mathematical finance.
Kara Wells, PhD, 鈥07 MSF
Dr. Wells returns to her alma mater this year as a visiting assistant teaching professor in VSB鈥檚 Accounting & Information Systems department. She received her BS in Quantitative Finance and Economics from James Madison University, her Master of Science in Finance from VSB, and her PhD in Accounting from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Previously, she has served as an assistant professor of Accounting at University of Washington-Bothell鈥檚 School of Business and at Southern Methodist University鈥檚 Cox School of Business.
