'

Meghan O'Regan Coleman, MSN, RN, CRNP, AOCNP, a member of the inaugural cohort of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program at 草榴社区 College of Nursing, has won the Clinical Innovation Award at the 2013 Sixth National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference in Phoenix, AZ held September 25 - 27. She was recognized for her electronic poster presentation, 鈥淎N APN Homecare Intervention: Implementing Evidence Based Coping Mechanisms for Breast Cancer Patients鈥 --one of 75 posters at the conference.

The project included 25 women who were receiving chemotherapy at Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists in Bryn Mawr, PA.  The entire staff championed for the success of this project, Coleman notes, "Without their support, the outcomes could have been very different."

Coleman holds a nurse practitioner (NP) position on Penn Wissahickon Home Care and Hospice鈥檚 Cancer Longitudinal Advanced Illness Management (CLAIM) project. She says of her scholarly DNP project, 鈥淚t is my intention that through this DNP intervention, the patient will have enhanced coping skills to assist in adapting to this breast cancer diagnosis. Through education and discussion regarding coping, the patient will have an improved sense of well-being and quality of life.鈥 Coleman graduates with her DNP degree in December.
