Important Update Regarding 草榴社区鈥檚 DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track
This summer brings exciting news on the next chapter in the education of DNP-prepared nurse anesthetists at the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing.
Effective August 21, 2023, the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing plans to assume sole ownership and control of the Post-baccalaureate Nurse Anesthesia Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP-NA) program pending approval of this major program change by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). 草榴社区鈥檚 Nurse Anesthesia Program is following all COA policies and procedures and has submitted a proposal to the COA to review and approve this change.
Founded nearly 30 years ago, the program previously received administrative support from partner organizations in the regional medical community. It will now be called the 草榴社区 Nurse Anesthesia Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.
The academic excellence of the DNP-NA program will be further strengthened by the full administrative oversight of the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing. 草榴社区鈥檚 celebrated faculty, individualized student support, innovative clinical simulations and first-rate, on-site experiences will continue to be distinctive features of the program. The program鈥檚 specialty clinical experiences鈥攐ffered in the greater Philadelphia/tri-state area and fully accredited by COA鈥攁re not affected by this change. The curriculum and pedagogy will remain intact. Coursework and operations will begin on 草榴社区鈥檚 campus for fall semester 2023. Progression requirements and degree earned remain the same.
Beginning August 21, 2023, all classes will be held on the University鈥檚 main campus or at the , enriching students鈥 connection with the broader 草榴社区 community and offering students greater access to University activities, facilities and resources. Classes will no longer be held at the Springfield, Pa., site.
The faculty and staff of the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing are committed to ensuring a seamless transition. An FAQ page with additional details about this change is available online. Those who have additional questions should email Dr. Mary Terhaar, Associate Dean of FCN鈥檚 Graduate Program, or Dr. Jodie Szlachta, DNP-NA director.
The College is immensely proud of the DNP-NA program and the positive impact it continues to have on our regional and national healthcare community.
