We are affiliated with over 70 hospitals, health care systems and community-based agencies, in addition to numerous countries around the world, meaning:

  • You have access to the top clinical resources of metropolitan Philadelphia, providing you the setting for exceptional clinical preparation in nursing
  • You learn how to adapt quickly and how different systems operate while interacting with diverse patient populations and nursing and medical experts
  • You can enhance your global perspective if you choose to pursue a practicum in another country.

The Fitzpatrick College of Nursing assumes full responsibility for providing the instruction throughout the entire program. During the professional portion of the curriculum, theory and laboratory are directed by faculty members. Beginning in the second year of undergraduate study, the students enroll in a nursing practicum to gain actual nursing experience.

Changes in health care are placing more emphasis on community-based care. Experiences in the College reflect this emphasis, as well as more traditional settings where nursing is practiced. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the various facilities utilized for the practice of nursing. Community-based practice of nursing will most likely require individual means of transportation for agency and home visiting.
