Become an inspiration through your global perspective.

Study for your global health minor. If you wish to study abroad, and have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0, you may take your sophomore year at the University of Manchester in England which fulfills the courses required for that year. You may also participate in summer abroad programs available to all 草榴社区 students or minor in another field, such as Spanish, psychology, or global health, as above (coordinated through our Center for the Study of Global and Public Health).  There are other opportunities for international clinical electives for credit, and national or international study as part of the parent-child health and . These international and multicultural opportunities develop your global health awareness. You also have an opportunity to interact with fellow students studying with us from other parts of the world, enriching your educational experience.

Become a student engaged in the research process.

You are exposed to faculty who are leaders in their field and research topics that advance the science of nursing. Coordinated by our Center for Nursing Research and Innovation, students have participated in the research process, presented scientific papers and posters at professional conferences and published scholarly articles in conjunction with faculty on such topics as social relationships in adolescents with autism, nursing care of people with disabilities and comfort in pediatric oncology

My View

鈥淎s a Presidential Scholar, I participate in the Honors Program. I take classes that are primarily discussion and writing based, which have improved my communication skills, something that will be beneficial when advocating for my patients. I have also attended interdisciplinary plenaries and discussions and have been intellectually stimulated by all of them鈥he nursing faculty are distinguished and very strong teachers, and the facilities are state-of-the-art. I honestly cannot imagine getting my nursing education anywhere else.鈥

A resource-rich environment

Driscoll Hall offers classrooms with state-of-the-art learning technologies that enhance teaching strategies of the faculty. During your first two years, you take a combination of liberal arts and science courses, as well as courses in basic nursing theory and clinical skills.

Your clinical simulation experiences begin freshman year in the Simulation and Learning Resource Center, housing 10 simulation labs including those for critical care, adult health and maternal-child health; related computerized patient simulators; as well as standardized patient labs.
